Vernon, NY – Driver Chris Long had a grand slam including a win with Quarrel in the $7,500 featured fillies & mares’ pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (Nov. 14).

Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3. She used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.0. Quarrel ($3.96) made her move first-up heading around the final turn and led to three quarters in 1:25.3.
As they reached the top of the stretch, the third-place finisher Unusual Clarity and second-place finisher Little Instigator (Leon Bailey) battled with Quarrel. Quarrel surged late to win by a quarter length in 1:54.2.
Quarrel is a 6-year-old mare by Always B Miki. She is owned by Karma Racing Inc and trained by Rob Harmon. It was her seventh win this season. She now has 23 career victories.
Long got his other wins Arsenal’s Ladybug ($2.40), Premier Delainey ($3.72), and Parousia ($2.72). Leon Bailey drove three winners on the card and is ahead of Long by three heading into closing night. Trainer Gary Gibson had three winners on the card and is tied with Michelle Warner with 38 wins a piece. David Dewhurst is just one back headed into tomorrow.

Capt Jack Hanover is the 2025 Pacer of the Year at Vernon Downs. He is a 7-year-old gelding by Captaintreacherous. He is owned by Michael Kessler, Speed To Burn Racing, and trainer MacDonald. In 17 starts at the Miracle Mile he had seven wins, five seconds, and two thirds.
