Dover, DE – Disturbed Hanover closed late and pulled off a major shocker at 31-1 winning the Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday (Nov.19) night.
Sparks were flying early when Ragtime Red and driver Trae Porter aggressively parked the 1/1 betting favorite Jett Propelled and Huntress three wide into the first turn. Huntress cleared the lead past the quarter in :26.3 Ragtime Red skirmished a second time and was at the throat of Huntress parked out as both mares battled through the half in :54.4, a :28.1 quarter.

Huntress was on empty racing up the backstretch. Ragtime Red stormed past a tiring Huntress and opened up a lead at the three quarters in 1:23.1, a :28.2 quarter. The outer tier was in flight when Huntress started to back up. Disturbed Hanover raced first-over, Lofty Treasure pivoted second-over and Melody Hanover third over. Incaseyoudidntknow geared up three-wide with her furious close.
At the top of the stretch Ragtime Red continued on the lead but then watched a fast closing Disturbed Hanover surge past her at the wire. Disturbed Hanover won by a neck in 1:52.1 and paid $64.60 for the win.
Ragtime Red raced stubbornly to finish second and Incaseyoudidntknow grabbed the show spot.
Disturbed Hanover (Big Jim) is owned by The Wiz Kids Stable LLC of Dover, Delaware. W.Bart Dalious trained and his son Barton Dalious drove. Tim Tetrick and Pat Berry scored driving triples on the night.
All eyes will be on Bally’s Dover on Thursday (Nov.20).
The $110,000 DSBF Final for 2-year -old colts and gelding pacers will take place on the 8th race.
There are two divisions of the Progress Pace eliminations that will be contested on races 12 and 14. The top four horses in each elimination and in the official order of finish will vie for the Progress Pace Final on Wednesday November 26. Eight horses will have their noses on the gate and compete for an estimated purse of $250,000
