Chesapeake City, MD – Winbak Farm is pleased to announce that Maryland will stand in New York for the 2026 breeding season at a fee of $10,000.
A winner of $1,719,655, Maryland holds a mark of 1:51.4 at 2 and 1:49.2 (BT) at 3. He was voted the 2024 Dan Patch 2-Year-Old Male Trotter of the Year after earning $1,227,695—the highest total for any racehorse that season and the second-highest single-season earnings for a 2-year-old male trotter in history. As a freshman, he also set track records at both The Meadowlands and Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Maryland, a well-conformed $475,000 yearling, was owned during his racing career by Courant Inc. & partners and trained by Marcus Melander. He is by Chapter Seven out of Crucial (Father Patrick–Jolene Jolene, 1:52.4F, $528,598). Maryland measured 16 hands (163 cm) as a 3-year-old.
On the track, Maryland recorded six career wins and finished on the board in 15 of 18 starts. His major victories as a 2-year-old include the Mohawk Million (G1), Peter Haughton Memorial (G1), William Wellwood Memorial (G1), and the Breeders Crown (G1).
Breeders with a mare in foal to Maryland in 2026 will be eligible for a $5,000 discount on the share price should the stallion be syndicated.
