Dayton, OH — No Foolin April received a confident drive from Brett Miller and went gate-to-wire to scoreda mild upset in the $28,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace on Thursday night (Dec. 11) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
When the field of eight was sent on their way, No Foolin April easily took command and led at the quarter in :26.2 and half in :55. A headstrong Wild Rosa (Tyler Smith) was in the pocket and all over the back of the leader.
Seaside Diva (Chris Page) started the outer flow and was just outside the top two at the three-quarters in 1:22.3.
Wild Rosa gave chase in the lane, but Foolin April was a length clear at the wire in 1:51.

The bettors’ choice, Side Piece (Trace Tetrick), was another half length back in third.
No Foolin April returned $17.80 to win.
The 4-year-old Nob Hill High mare was bred and is trained and owned by Adam Short.
In the $24,000 Open II Pace, Beautiful Seaside (Trace Tetrick) used a front-stepping trip to record her 22nd career victory.
Beautiful Seaside and Jules Hill (Brett Miller) had a brief tussle for the lead, but Beautiful Seaside grabbed the lead and was mostly untested in the opening quarters of :27.2, :55.4 and 1:23.2.
Jules Hill angled out of the pocket and closed on the leader, but Beautiful Seaside finished a half length to the good in 1:51.3. Jules Hill was second and Always In Flight (David Miller) survived a four-way photo for third.
The homebred daughter of Downbytheseaside is owned by Matt Rowe and trained by Logan Rowe.
