Fort Washington, MD – Rosecroft Raceway’s leading driver, Russell Foster, swept Thursday’s (Dec. 11) featured events at the Capital Region harness racing venue, teaming up with Stamphillshadow GB for a repeat win in the night’s top distaff pace and Meadows invader Roan Ridge for a narrow score in the featured trot.
Foster launched a first-over bid up the backstretch with Stamphillshadow GB in the $10,000 upper-level conditioned pace for fillies and mares, and the 5-year-old Smack Talk-Serranohall mare ground forward to upend even-money favorite Miss Chantilly N (driven by Jonathan Roberts) by a neck in 1:53.1. Cheesey Lady (Justin Vincent) rallied belatedly to finish third.
Steve Wetzel owns and trains 15-time winner Stamphillshadow GB, who paid $4.20 to win as the 11-10 second choice in what was her fourth consecutive victory.
Foster used similar tactics in the $9,000 trotting feature, floating 3-5 favorite Roan Ridge into midfield from post eight before launching a first-over grind into pacesetter Whoodle Hanover (Frank Milby) through a rated :59 half. The 3-year-old Il Mago-Travel Ridge gelding sustained his bid through the second half of the race and accelerated in the final yards to just nab Whoodle Hanover by a nose in 1:57.1. K J The Thirteenth (Vincent) finished third, beaten 6-1/2 lengths.
Jason Walters owns and trains six-time winner Roan Ridge, who paid $3.40 to win.
Only two programs remain at the current meeting. Rosecroft Raceway will host live harness racing on Monday (Dec. 15) and Thursday (Dec. 18) before taking a one-month interval prior to the 2026 winter-spring meeting. First post both nights is 7:15 p.m. (EST).
On the wagering front, the Jackpot Hi-5 carryover to Monday’s 10th race stands at $5,075.65. Free past performance pages, the Players’ Guide tip sheet, and live and archived video are all available at www.rosecroft.com.
