Chester, PA – American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) action wrapped for 2025 on Sunday (Dec. 28) at Harrah’s Philadelphia with Geovany Hernandez bagging two wins and Michael Shults scoring in the other of the three $7,500 events on the card.
Hernandez scored his first win in the second division of the AHDC Pace with 3-1 third choice Lew Hauber in a 1:55.1 mile. Once he circled to the lead after a :27 first quarter, Hernandez rolled under minimal pressure while building a sizable cushion through a :55.2 half and 1:24.1 three-quarters. Lew Hauber’s lead diminished in the stretch as he strolled to the line for a 2-1/4-length win over Try Line (driven by Bruce Baker), who rallied from a ground-saving trip for second. Rose Run Woodrow (Joe Lee), the 7-5 favorite, pushed from near last for third and Lenda Hand Man (Stacey McLenaghan) overcame a shuffle for fourth.
Geovany Hernandez owns and trains Lew Hauber, a 3-year-old gelding by Sweet Lou. He paid $8.20 to win.
Hernandez later scored in the lone division of the AHDC Trot with 9-5 second choice Roger Rabbit in a 1:57 mile. Settling into third nearing a :28 first quarter, Roger Rabbit stalked as 4-5 favorite Shake N Bake (Yogi Sheridan) brushed by longshot Certify (Mike Polansky) to take the lead. Shake N Bake cut a modest tempo to a :57.4 half and 1:26.4 three-quarters before cruising evenly for the finish. Roger Rabbit spurted forward in the stretch and successfully collared Shake N Bake off a ground-saving trip for a neck victory while Certify held third and Bacardi (Joe Lee) gave chase in fourth.
Mark Ford trains Roger Rabbit, an 8-year-old gelding by Sebastian K S, for owners George and Rose Bonomo. He paid $5.80 to win.
Michael Shults scored a gate-to-wire victory in the first AHDC Pace behind 9-5 second choice Bionic in a 1:56.4 mile. Bionic cleared control to a :28.1 first quarter and coasted under minimal threat to a :58.3 half, where 8-5 favorite Le Bec Fin (Anthony Verruso) began a mild first-over bid. Opening three lengths on his rivals to three-quarters in 1:26.4, Bionic held his course through the last turn and down the stretch to notch a facile 3-1/2-length victory with pocket-chaser Uncle Coz (Yogi Sheridan) left in second. Phelgon (Geovany Hernandez) finished third, another four lengths behind, and Western Bayama (Joe Lee) took fourth.
Shults trains Bionic, a 7-year-old gelding by Always B Miki, for owner Blazer One Racing. He paid $5.60 to win.
AHDC action is slated to return in 2026.
