Wolverine Lake, MI – Donald “Donnie” Glen Raymond, 74, of Wolverine Lake, Mich., passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 4, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of the place he loved most.
Born on June 12, 1951, in Detroit, Mich., Donnie was the son of Donald H. Raymond and Thelma Raymond. He never married and had no children, but his life was rich with passion, loyalty, and deep personal interests – especially his lifelong love of harness racing.

Donnie proudly owned several harness horses over the years, including Misty Combat, Inca Gold, and Vicro. Even after he stepped away from racing, his heart never left the track. He remained a familiar face at Northville Downs, rarely missing a night until the COVID-19 shutdown brought an end to an era he cherished deeply.
Home was Donnie’s sanctuary, where he found peace, comfort, and contentment. For the final seven years of his life, he was lovingly cared for at home by his niece, Rebecca Sievert, who was honored to be his primary caregiver and remained by his side throughout the final years of his life.
One of Donnie’s greatest joys was his dogs – Charley, Axel, and Paco Taco – who filled his days with comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love.
Donnie enjoyed playing pool, following sports, and living life at his own quiet, steady pace. He was a good man – kind, genuine, and deeply loved by those who truly knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Michael and Linda.
In accordance with his wishes, Donnie will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held, along with a memorial race, during the week of the Fowlerville Fair, where Donnie will be honored in a way that reflects his deep love for harness racing. Additional details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
Donnie’s memory will live on in the echo of hooves on the track, the warmth of loyal dogs at his side, and the home that was truly his safe place.
