Columbus, OH – The Meadowlands, who will host the Hambletonian this year in August, is planning to submit a bid to be the host again in 2027 according to the Paulick Report.

”The Meadowlands Racetrack will indeed submit a bid to host the 2027 Hambletonian, harness racing’s most prestigious race, track owner Jeff Gural told me earlier today,” reported Andrew Cohen Friday (Feb. 20)
“The decision answers one of the biggest questions surrounding harness racing since last fall, when Gural controversially declined to exercise the Big M’s right of first refusal to host the race in 2027.”
On Thursday (Feb. 19), Indiana Governor Mike Braun, in partnership with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission and the Indiana Standardbred Association, announced interest in hosting the Hambletonian for three years starting in 2027 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Anderson, IN.

Cohen suggests that there may be another bidder too.
“It is possible that the Hambletonian Society, which oversees the race, may also get a bid from the folks who run Woodbine/Mohawk Raceway in Campbellville, Ontario, which is Canada’s premier harness track.”
The deadline to submit bids to the Hambletonian Society is March 1.
