Dover, DE — Fruit Snacker posted a dominant wire-to-wire victory in the $20,000 Winners Over Select Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (March 3).
Deadline Hall was quickest off the wings of the starting gate into the first turn. Fruit Snacker, the 3-2 favorite, floated on the outside from third then rushed to the top past the :27.2 quarter before backing the half down to :56.2.
Fruit Snacker raced comfortably on the lead up the backstretch while Last Glow braved a first-over trip followed by Victor Laszlo, who trotted second-over as Indy Be Quick protected pocket position. Fruit Snacker continued to trot confidently over the sloppy racing surface reaching the three-quarters in 1:24.4.
When Last Glow started to weaken at the top of the stretch, Victor Laszlo and Benjamin Hanover angled wide but could not sustain their bids. Indy Be Quick started to gather momentum along the pylons but could not gain on the leader.
Fruit Snacker won by a head and trotted the mile in 1:53.3, just a fifth of a second off his lifetime best.

Indy Be Quick finished second. Benjamin Hanover was third.
Fruit Snacker, a 4-year-old Dover Dan gelding who paid $5 to win, is owned by Mark Howard and trained by Will Reynolds, and was driven by Tony Morgan.
Tim Tetrick led all drivers with four wins on the program.
There is a Pick-5 carryover worth $1,801 and a pentafecta carryover of $1,524 to Wednesday’s (March 4) card. The featured race is the $21,000 Mares Select Handicap Pace, carded as race 9. Jett Propelled seeks a three-peat victory in the event.
