Hamburg, NY – McVera ($4.88) continued her winning ways in the early season by taking her fifth victory in just six starts on the campaign with a hard-fought nose win over Wildcat Delight in Buffalo Raceway’s featured $13,500 pace for the fillies and mares on Wednesday afternoon (March 11). She covered the mile in 2:00.4.

In the sub featured $12,000 pace for the damsels, Ladycorona ($95.10) absolutely shocked the field with a three-quarter decision over Major Megan in 2:01.1 over the sloppy track.
To start the season, McVera (Drew Monti) exploded on the scene with four straight scores at Batavia Downs. But that win streak ended on February 22 when she ventured to Saratoga Raceway. McVera put in a game effort in finishing third but now she’s enjoying the comforts of home at Buffalo Raceway.
Sunonmybuns took early control of the race with Wildcat Delight and McVera following along in second and third. With splits of :30.1 and 1:00.4 on the board, McVera began her first over journey down the back stretch the final time. Down the stretch, McVera managed to wear down Sunonmybuns but Wildcat Delight (Brett MacDonald came roaring down the lightning lane but came up a nose short. Rightfully Mine (Kyle Swift) got up for the third-place check.
Owned by Robert Woodburn and trained by Taylor Fritz, the 6-year-old McVera (McArdle-Designer Dreams) has now earned $25,810 on the season and $162,462 in her career.
Ladycorona (Joseph Chindano Jr.) found that the eight post wasn’t an issue as she started from the outside but had no problem eventually getting the lead in the end.

After watching Sondora step out and click off fractions of :28.1 and :59.0 past the half, Ladycorona began to swoop the group midway down the backstretch. Gliding to the three-quarter pole in 1:29.0, Ladycorona proved she was much the best as she stepped away from the field and easily turned back the belated bid from Major Megan (James McNeight Jr.). Bee Okay A (David McNeight III) was third.
Ladycorona is trained by Christopher Petrelli and is owned by The Queen Of Hearts Stable. The 6-year-old Ladycorona (Bettor’s Delight-Whycantiforgetyou) won for the first time in 2026 in five starts. The victory moved his seasonal earnings to $8,200 and to $207,806 lifetime.
Racing will continue on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with a 14-race card scheduled. There’s a $1,118 carryover in the Pick-5 which starts in the second race.
