Hamburg, NY — Lyons Surfing ($7.54) won his fifth consecutive race by taking Buffalo Raceway’s $15,500 Open Pace on Saturday afternoon (April 18). He beat I Aint No Mack by a length in 1:55.2 over a good track.
Lyons Surfing (Greg Merton) has made it a weekly habit of finding the winner’s circle but has done it in a consistent fashion, rallying in the stretch.
I Aint No Mack (Kevin Cummings) cut fractions of :29, :58.1 and 1:26.3. Meanwhile, All Bets On Tex and Livonjaxandqueens took aim approaching the three-quarter marker but their attempts stalled out. This allowed Lyons Surfing to save ground on the inside and get into the flow turning for home. I Aint No Mack had the lead but was absolutely helpless midway down the lane as Lyons Surfing came roaring by to post the victory. Avion Seelster (James McNeight Jr.) finished third.

It was the second straight win in Open competition for Lyons Surfing (Stay Hungry-Surfside Sexy). He is owned by PT Stable and is trained by Sheena Cohen. The victory pushed his 2026 earnings to $33,875 and his career bankroll to $343,927.
In the $15,500 Open Trot, Dealin With Dewey ($3.10) had to contend with heavy rain and a sloppy track but still got the job done with a three-quarter-length victory over Dougadougadew in 1:59.3.
Dealin With Dewey (Brett MacDonald) muscled his way to the lead in the off going and posted splits of :29.1, :59 and 1:29.3.
Things remained under control down the lane as Dealin With Dewey held off mild rallies from Dougadougadew (Kyle Cummings) and Crazy Ritz (James McNeight Jr.), who captured second and third place, respectively.
It was the third win of the season for Dealin With Dewey (Wheeling N Dealin-Rockin With Dewey), all coming in the Buffalo Raceway Open trot, for owner/trainer Sara Baillargeon. The victory improved his seasonal bankroll to $31,186 and his career coffers to $386,906.
MacDonald completed the card with four wins, Greg Merton got three, and Drew Monti and McNeight had two apiece. Candace Brandstatter-Hall and Cohen notched two training victories each.
Racing at Buffalo Raceway will continue on Wednesday afternoon (April 22) at 2:30 p.m. with an 11-race program set.
