Hamburg, NY – The weather may have been chilly and rainy on Saturday afternoon (April 25), but Lanjo Lee made it look like a summertime stroll in the park as he easily wired the field in Buffalo Raceway’s $15,500 Open Pace. He convincingly beat Stormalong by a dialed down 2-1/2 lengths in 1:54.3 over a “good” track.
Lanjo Lee (driven Kyle Cummings) wasted no time in taking control of the field as he stormed off the gate. Putting together fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:25.4, the third quarter split of :28 was critical as Lanjo Lee was able to open up by 5-1/4 lengths with less than a panel to pace.

Down the stretch, little fanfare was needed as Lanjo Lee kept the field behind at a safe distance. It was a good battle for minor spoils as Stormalong (Brett MacDonald) took second place with Dont Poke The Bear (David McNeight III) collecting the show check.
Owned by Gordon Swift and trained by Tammy Cummings, it was the first victory on the campaign in seven tries for the 7-year-old gelding Lanjo Lee (So Surreal-My Drag Queen). The win increased his 2026 bankroll to $18,445 and to $368,883 lifetime.
In the $15,500 Open Trot, it looked like an instant replay of last week’s victory for Dealin With Dewey as he managed to handle the off track and rainy conditions to post a coast-to-coast one-length win over Big Baller Beane in 1:57. It was the second straight Open Trot score for Dealin With Dewey (Brett MacDonald) and his fourth in seven attempts at that level.
Starting from post three, Dealin With Dewey was able to reach the top with ease as Big Baller Beane was content to draft along in the pocket.
With splits of :28.4, :58.3 and 1:27.4, Dealin With Dewey just had to “deal” with Big Baller Beane (Kevin Cummings) and did so rather easily down the lane. Big Baller Beane gave it his best effort on the outside but Dealin With Dewey was too much and snuffed out that attempt. Valentine Express (Drew Monti) was third.
Owned and trained by Sara Baillargeon, the 8-year-old Dealin With Dewey (Wheeling N Dealin-Rockin With Dewey) has now won four times in 11 races this season. The win increased his 2026 earnings to $38,176 and to $391,666 in his career.
Monti and Kyle Cummings all tripled on the program with MacDonald, James McNeight Jr. and Kevin Cummings registering two wins each. Jeff Martin and Samuel Smith each had training doubles.
Racing will resume on Wednesday afternoon (April 29) at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) with a 13-race program slated.
