Vernon, NY – Delayed Hanover (Aaron Byron) captures the featured $8,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (May 1).

Valottalove (John MacDonald) was first to the quarter in :27.4. By The Book (Chris Long) took over the lead heading down the backstretch and led to the half in :57.1. City Of Hope (Leon Bailey) went to the front going around the final turn and was first to three quarters in 1:26.0.
As they made the turn for home Delayed Hanover ($7.84) made his move and went past second place finisher City Of Hope to win in 1:54.1. Valottalove finished third.
Delayed Hanover is an 8-year-old horse by Southwind Frank. He is owned by Reid Wissner and trained by Kevin McDermott. It was his second with this season and 24th career victory.
Leon Bailey, John MacDonald, and Aaron Byron all had driving doubles. Joe Skowyra had a training double.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Derby Day on Saturday (May 2) with a post time of 5:05 p.m.
