On Tuesday (May 5), this year’s first qualifiers for French 2-year-olds were held at the track in Caen, Normandy. There were 79 starters, and of these, 69 met the required time, which is 2:10.2 (mile rate).
The double Prix d’Amérique winner Idao de Tillard has his first crop on the track this year, and 14 of them were entered in Tuesday’s qualifier.
Eleven of them met the requirement—10 of whom are trained by Idao de Tillard’s trainer and co-owner, Thierry Duvaldestin.
Idao de Tillard’s son, Oswald Port, from the Duvaldestin stable, was the fastest of the day and qualified in 2:01.3 (mile rate).
Idao de Tillard has a total of 82 horses in his first crop from 2024.
The first races for 2-year-olds in France are scheduled for the second half of July.
