Hamburg, NY – There was little suspense in Buffalo Raceway’s co-featured events on Saturday afternoon (May 9) as the two heavy favorites rolled to their second straight Open victories, much to the delight of the chalk players.
Marvellous Mac A ($3.28) took the $15,500 Open Pace with a solid one-length decision over Lanjo Lee while Big Baller Beane ($2.54) had little issue in disposing of Double Class by a comfortable two lengths in the $15,500 Open Trot.
Lanjo Lee (Kyle Cummings) had to work hard to get to the lead in the Open Pace, going three wide before settling on top. With Marvellous Mac A (Drew Monti) tracking along in the pocket, Lanjo Lee put up fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:26.2. But Marvellous Mac A wasted little time in starting his winning move as he tipped out of the pocket around the final turn and steadily pulled away from Lanjo Lee in tripping the timer in 1:55.1. Sweet Ideal (Ray Fisher Jr.) was third.

Owned by Vogel & Wags Nags LLC, Team Rice Racing and Mr. Michael Miller, Marvellous Mac A (Roll With Joe-Glee Bromac) is trained by Maria Rice. The win was the third in eight attempts on the season, pushing his bankroll to $30,345 and to $89,676 in his career.
In the Open Trot, Big Baller Beane left little doubt who the best was as he wired the field in a seasonal best 1:57 over the fast track.
Starting from post 2, Big Baller Beane (Kevin Cummings) had no trouble in cruising to the lead. With splits of :28.1, :59 and 1:28.2, the only one within shouting distance turning for home was Double Class (Ron Beback Jr.) who got a perfect pocket journey. But there was little doubt down the lane as Big Baller Beane confidently trotted away from Double Class to register the easy win. My One Percent (Kyle Cummings) was able to collect the show check.

It was the fourth victory in six races on the year for Big Baller Beane (Father Patrick-Global Desire). Trained by Angelo Nappo, he has also won three of his last four starts along with a second-place finish. The score increased his bankroll to $30,875 on the campaign and to $365,808 lifetime.
Brett MacDonald continued on a nice roll as he posted a driving triple while Fisher Jr., Monti and Kevin Cummings doubled. Brandon Presto had two training victories.
Racing will return on Wednesday afternoon (May 13) at 2:30 p.m. with a 13-race program set. There is an $819 carryover in the Pick 5 which begins in the second race.
