Vernon, NY – Ramborain and trainer/driver Dan Daley captured the featured $8,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (May 15).

The big favorite, City Of Hope (driven by Leon Bailey), went on a break before the start. Ramborain went straight front and led to the quarter in:28.4. He used a :30 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.4. He remained in the lead to three quarters in 1:27.3.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Zapaca (Frank Affrunti) came all out after the leader. Ramborain dug in and won by three-quarters of a length in 1:56. What A Mission (Michael Miller) finished third.
Ramborain is a 5-year-old gelding by Crazy Wow. He is trained by Daley for owners Ann-Mari Daley, Todd Van Alstyne, and Margaret Waterbury. He paid $8.56 in his first win of the season and now has 14 career victories.
Jeff Gregory drove three winners on the card. Chris Long and Jimmy Whittemore had driving doubles. Gregory and Margaret Spagnola had training doubles.
