Nichols, NY – Turn On The Charm, with driver James Kennedy, won the featured $16,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Saturday (May 16).

Turn On The Charm grabbed the lead just before hitting the quarter first in :27. Fashion Terror (driven by Ridge Warren) came first-up to challenge going around the clubhouse turn. Turn On The Charm had a short lead to the half in :56.3. The two mares were side by side heading down the backstretch. Turn On The Charm led to three quarters in 1:24.2.
Second-place finisher Fashion Terror gave one late try but Turn On The Charm dug in and won by a half-length in 1:53.2. Alta Madeira N (Mike Merton) finished third.
Turn On The Charm is a 6-year-old mare by Huntsville. She is owned by Patricia Waldeck, John Coffey, and trainer Bruce Clarke. It was her fourth win this season. She now has 21 career victories. She paid $4.04 to win.
Mike Merton, Ridge Warren, and Ron Cushing had driving doubles. McKenzie Sowers had a training double.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Sunday (May 17) with a 12-race card starting at 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
