Anderson, IN – Indiana Sire Stakes action got underway during a spectacular 15-race Memorial Day card on Monday (May 25) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, headlined by the sophomore debut of world champion Odds On Mr Mamba, who returned with a 1:49 first-over score in the $96,000 3-year-old colt and gelding pace with Dexter Dunn aboard.
Leaving from post 2 in the full field of 10, Dunn floated the 1-9 favorite into fourth on the first turn while Dancingdreamer (driven by Aaron Stutzman) blitzed to the lead around What Nooo Waaay (John De Long) to reach the opening station in :26.2. Dancingdreamer kept the throttle down to the half in :54.2 before Dunn began to angle Odds On Mr Mamba off the cones. The field scorched into the final turn, with Dancingdreamer continuing to lead the way to the three-quarter pole in 1:22.2 while Odds On Mr Mamba powered alongside What Nooo Waaay before setting his sights on the leader.

Dunn began to call on Odds On Mr Mamba at the head of the lane, with the world champion responding as he powered clear of Dancingdreamer. Strong through the wire, Odds On Mr Mamba paced his final panel in :26.1 en route to a 2-1/4-length score for his 1:49 clocking. What Nooo Waaay edged out a hard-charging Swiss Lights (Trace Tetrick) for the place position.
Odds On Mr Mamba, an Odds On Racing homebred gelded son of Odds On Equuleus-Honky Tonk Woman, has now won eight straight dating back to last season, with his lone defeat coming in his career debut as a 2-year-old. Trained by Melanie Wrenn, Odds On Mr Mamba now boasts a career bankroll of $362,405 following the victory.
Far from the only star on the Monday card, Indiana’s best put on a show with all other sophomore divisions offering a pair of splits for their first leg of Indiana Sire Stakes.
The Sire Stakes action kicked off with a bang, as Somemore Blue (Marcus Miller) took the lid-lifter in a career best 1:50 in the $48,500 first division for sophomore pacing fillies. The 1-9 post time favorite out of post 2, Somemore Blue eased to the rail behind Klorox Queen (Trace Tetrick), who led the field to the first quarter in :27.1. The six-horse field entered the backstretch single file led by Klorox Queen as the field remained unchanged to the halfway point in :56.1. The pattern continued to the three-quarter turn, with Klorox Queen followed tightly by Somemore Blue in 1:24. Transitioning into the stretch, Somemore Blue sprung to life along the outside of Klorox Queen, taking flight in :25.3 to best that foe by 2 lengths, while Keeps Miss Dixie (Brandon Bates) rallied for third at 42-1.
Somemore Blue is owned by Douglas Overhiser, Kenneth Duffy, Lava Java Stable, and Never 2 Late Stable and trained by Erv Miller. The Rockin Image-Misssomebeach Blue filly was bred by Lavon Miller. Somemore Blue increased her lifetime earnings to $311,316 and lifetime wins to nine.
Last year’s 2-year-old champion, Whoomp (John De Long), returned in style for her 3-year-old campaign, coasting to an easy victory in the $48,500 second division.
Whoomp was away second in the quintet with It’s My Story (Trace Tetrick) calling the shots at the quarter in a tepid :29.1 before Whoomp brushed on the backstretch to assume the lead at the half in :57.4. Jogging to three-quarters in 1:26, Whoomp turned on the jets with a :25.4 final quarter to cruise by 3 lengths in 1:51.4 over It’s My Story and Milliondollarimage (Jordan Ross).
Roger Welch trains the winning daughter of Rockin Image-Nightcap, who was named Indiana’s Pacer of the Year in 2025. Whoomp is a William and Patrick DeLong homebred, co-owned by Jesse DeLong, as she pushed her career bankroll to $373,851.
Both of Welch’s 2-year-old champions scored on the evening, with For Dayze (John DeLong) battling back to take the first of two $48,500 splits for 3-year-old trotting fillies.
Starting from the outside post 6, For Dayze raced outside of Dial Nine One One (Jordan Ross) to the quarter in :28.4 before crossing over with the lead at the half in :59.1. Bringing the sextet to three-quarters in 1:28.3, For Dayze lost the lead briefly midway through the stretch as Dial Nine One One exploded from the pocket to grab the advantage. Refusing to be denied, For Dayze battled back to her to get the win by a half-length over Dial Nine One One in 1:55.3, with Honeymoon (Trace Tetrick) rallying for third.
It was the first win in two outings on the season for For Dayze, a daughter of Swan For All-Southwind Storm owned by William and Patrick DeLong. Ernie Lambright bred For Dayze, who has won seven of 12 while lifetime while banking $289,050.

In the second division for trotting fillies, Fresh Face Yankee remained unblemished on the season with a front-end career-best romp with trainer Jay Cross in the sulky.
Asserting herself early from the outside post 6, Fresh Face Yankee circled over to the cones through first-half fractions of :28.1 and :58. Fresh Face Yankee trotted to three-quarters in 1:27.1 before Help Cum Laude (Atlee Bender) took aim from the pocket. Fresh Face Yankee turned away that challenge, sprinting to the wire in :26.2 en route to a 1:53.3 clocking, 1-1/4-lengths clear. Help Cum Laude held second, with Expressive Gal (Kyle Wilfong) in third.
Tim Smith owns the winning daughter of Crescent Fashion-Swan Yankee, who is perfect in four tries this season. Bred by Fashion Hill Farm, Fresh Face Yankee has won 13 of 19 lifetime for earnings of $89,960.
In the first $50,500 division for sophomore trotting colts and geldings, the photo finish camera couldn’t separate Dan D Man Can (Atlee Bender) and August Salazar (John DeLong) as the two favorites hit the wire together.
Dan D Man Can grabbed command early, with August Salazar content to sit on his back from the pocket through first-half fractions of :29.4 and :59.3. The tempo quickened to three-quarters in 1:28.3, when August Salazar took aim from the hole. The duo traded blows the length of the lane and were inseparable on the wire in 1:55.2. Premier Bluebird (Kyle Wilfong) was third, 4-1/2-lengths back.
Dan D Man Can is 2-for-2 in his sophomore campaign for trainer Erv Miller trainee and owners Red Barn Stable, Doug Overhiser, and Lava Java Stable. Homestead Acres bred the Dover Dan-Caramela Hanover gelding, who is a three-time career winner with $164,965 in earnings following the career-best effort.
August Salazar has now won five of six at 3, with the Ron Burke trainee owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Frank Baldachino and Michael Rosenthal. The Big Stick Lindy-Girls Gone Lindy colt boasts a career bankroll of $173,722 following his 11th win in his 23 lifetime outings.
In the second division for male trotters, San Patricio dazzled in his sophomore debut as he wired the field in a career best 1:52.4 with driver Trace Tetrick.
Tetrick fired the even-money favorite off the wings, taking control to the quarter in :28 before facing pressure from a parked-out Starlit Dan Dover (LeWayne Miller) to the half in :56.2. San Patricio turned away that foe to three-quarters in 1:25 before powering home in :27.4 to hold Swan Affect (Marcus Miller) and Inverness Ave (John DeLong) at bay by 1-1/2 lengths on the line.
Making his first start since Sept. 3, 2025, the winning Tyler Butenschoen trainee has now won six of nine lifetime for owners Tony Holmes, Michael Holmes, June Zent, and Timothy Thornton. Tony Holmes and Walter Zent bred San Patricio, a gelded son of Swan For All-Kaikoura who now sports career earnings of $130,400.
Live racing resumes at Harrah’s Hoosier Park on Wednesday (May 27) with a 14-race program set to get underway at 5:30 p.m. (EDT). The card features a $15,000 guarantee on the Late Pick-4 (races 11-14) and $10,000 guarantee on the Late High-5 (race 14), with those guarantees offered each Wednesday in partnership with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program.
