Anderson, IN – Golden Bay N, driven by Trace Tetrick for trainer Tyler George, continued his strong form on Friday (June 5), dominating the $22,000 Open Pace at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.
Shooting out of the starting gate from post 5, Golden Bay N wasted little time finding the lead, beating out Rip Wheeler (driver Brandon Bates) to the rail. Setting the tone, Golden Bay N led the way at the first quarter turn in :26 with Rip Wheeler and Shooting In Place (Jordan Ross) trying to keep up from second and third.

The seven-horse field remained unchanged in a single-file line behind leader Golden Bay N, who rode the wind to the halfway point in :53.1. Golden Bay N continued to build space from Rip Wheeler, growing his lead to 4 lengths at three-quarters in 1:21. Meanwhile, M-M-s Bud began his charge from last along the outside, with Coach Stefanos trailing closely behind.
Pacing to the stretch, M-M-s Bud continued to gain ground on the rest of the chasers, but Golden Bay N maintained his advantage over the field. Leaving little questions down the stretch, Golden Bay N took advantage of the open freeway and coasted to the wire in 1:49.2 to win by 3-1/4 lengths. M-M-s Bud snagged second while Coach Stefanos rallied for third.
Golden Bay N, a 7-year-old gelding, is owned by Castaldo Racing Stable and T G Stable LLC and increased his lifetime earnings to $255,203 with his third straight victory. He paid $3.80 to win. He was the first of four training victories for George on the 13-race card.
Live racing at Hoosier Park continues Saturday (May 6), showcasing a 14-race card with a $7,500 guaranteed Late Pick-4 and a $7,500 guaranteed Late Hoosier High-5 done in partnership with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program. First post is set for 5:30 p.m. (EDT).
