Anderson, IN – Goo Goo Won driven by Kyle Wilfong for trainer Ron Burke won the battle down the stretch to claim the $22,000 Fillies/Mares Open Pace at Hoosier Park on Saturday (June 20).

Looking to strike first out of the gate in her assigned post four, Goo Goo Won shot up the middle with a duo of pacers Rollin Rosie (Trace Tetrick) and Wild Rosa (Brandon Bate) beating out Wild Rosa with Rollin Rosie eventually claiming the lead. Hitting the first quarter in :26.4, Rollin Rosie set the pace for the seven-horse field as they transitioned to the backstretch.
Finding the halfway mark in :55.1, the order remained unchanged with Rollin Rosie being tracked intently by Goo Goo Won. The post time favorite Can’ttouchthese (John De Long) was the first to move along the outside from the back of the field in fifth. Rollin Rosie continued to lead at the three-quarters in 1:23.1 with Goo Goo Won and Wild Rosa in pursuit off the final turn.
With the field fanning out down the stretch, Can’ttouchthese kept her rally going to move within striking distance. Nearing the finish, Rollin Rosie gave way on the lead as Goo Goo Won grabbed a narrow advantage with Wild Rosa and the oncoming freight train of Can’ttouchthese to her outside. Crossing the wire in 1:50.1, Goo Goo Won emerged atop the three-way slugfest to the wire, winning by a quarter-length. Wild Rosa held onto second, with Can’ttouchthese third a half-length back.
The 7-year-old Goo Goo Won is owned by Judith Taylor. Goo Goo Won increased her lifetime earnings to $479,490 to add her fifth win of the season. Goo Goo Won paid $13.40 to win.
