Nichols, NY — Tuis Angel (Braxten Boyd) won the $15,500 featured Open Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (June 27).
Tuis Angel ($5.58) was first to the quarter in :27 and the half in :56.1. Special Mission (Dan Daley) came first-up down the backstretch and battled for the lead. Tuis Angel retained the lead to three-quarters in 1:24.2.
As they made the turn for home, Tuis Angel took off and won easily in 1:54. Purple Lord (Jim Pantaleano) came up late to finish second. Special Mission had to settle for third money.

Tuis Angel is a 5-year-old mare by Andover Hall owned by Pam Kimmel, James Rappold, and trainer David Wiest. It was her fourth win of the season. She now has 13 career victories.
Ridge Warren started the card with a natural hat trick, winning with Vel Im All Fire, Doc Nixon and Wukong.
Tioga Downs had to cancel the last five races of the card due to a starting gate malfunction.
