Nichols, NY – Fashion Terror (Greg Merton) charged late to capture the $14,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (July 3).
Aint She Pretty (Greg Merton) controlled the early fractions, first to the quarter in :27.4, first to the half in :56.3. She cruised to three quarters in 1:23.3 and looked poised to win.
As they entered mid-stretch, second-place finisher Elegant A (Colin Kelly) battled for the lead. Fashion Terror ($47.66) slipped in between both horses and got up in time to win in 1:52.1. Aint She Pretty had to settle for third.
Fashion Terror is a 4-year-old mare by Huntsville. She is owned by All Star Racing and trained by Mark Ford. It was her sixth win of the year and 17th career victory.
Ridge Warren had a driving gland slam. He reached the winner’s circle with HC Commander, Ima Happy Fella GB, Woodmere Harriet, and Mickie Mantle.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (July 4) starting at 6:15 p.m. Fireworks follow live racing.
