Wilkes-Barre, PA – The top purse event on the Sunday (July 5) twilight card at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania was a $16,000 trot for 2-year-old fillies, with a familiar outcome: an Ake Svanstedt trotter was victorious, as Pure Luxury recorded a 1:58.1 victory in her purse bow.

Ridge Warren sulkysat for the successful Svanstedt stable, making a move after a :29.3 quarter to take a lead before the :59 half that she would never surrender. She went past the three quarters in 1:28.4 then finished out in :29.2 to be two lengths clear of Jenna Four The Win. Ake Svanstedt Inc. shares ownership in the promising daughter of Six Pack-Won Liner with B Nasstrom Holding Inc.
The fastest mile of the Sunday program came in the $15,500 claiming handicap pace co-feature, with Art Of Revenge paying immediate dividends on a $38,000 claim from his last start with a 1:50.1 triumph. The Art Official gelding, winner of three of his last five before changing barns, made the lead from the outside post 7 and set very pedestrian fractions of :27.1, :56, and 1:24, then was shifted into a higher gear by Pocono driving leader Tyler Buter and stormed home in :26.1. Favored Statesidelckdwn GB could get within only two lengths of the swift Darren Taneyhill trainee, who now races for Carmen Iannacone.
Braxten Boyd and George Napolitano Jr. succeeded two times on the Sunday card; 10 trainers sent out one winner for their shedrow.
On Monday (July 6), Pocono will feature three $30,000 divisions of the Pennsylvania All-Stars for 2-year-old pacing males, as many of these babies continue to progress to the upper reaches of their division.
