ADIOS, ADIOO VOLO SUPPLEMENTAL ENTRY REMINDER

The Adios, which is an open 3-year-old pace, accepts supplemental entries for $35,000. The Adioo Volo 3-year-old filly pace has a $7,500 supplemental entry fee. Any questions regarding supplementing to the events should be directed to Race Secretary Tom Leasure at 724-225-9897.
MORE FRESHMEN TO DEBUT TUESDAY
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will host seven qualifying races on Tuesday morning (July 7), starting at 10:30 a.m. (EDT). Races 1-2 will be for older horses, with races 3-7 for 2-year-olds. Of the 31 freshmen entered, only four have made pari-mutuel starts. Racing fans can watch all of the action live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page. Qualifier video is also archived at www.youtube.com/themsoa.
$4 MILLION WEEK
The Meadows reached new heights last week with a new single-day handle record of more than $1.68 million on Thursday afternoon (July 2). For the four days of racing, more than $4 million in handle was recorded on Meadows live races for the July 1-4 period.
PALONE RECLAIMS TOP SPOT
The battle for the top driver in wins at The Meadows continues to seesaw back and forth between Dave Palone and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. Through July 4, Palone now has the top spot with 195 wins, with Wrenn in second at 183. Despite being inactive due to injuries suffered two months ago, Aaron Merriman remains in third with 106, while Justin Irvine (101) and Jeremy Indof (80) round out the top five. Palone also holds the lead in driver rating over Wrenn, .424 to .405. Only two drivers are undefeated at The Meadows this year. Don Irvine Jr. and Mickey Burke Jr. each reached the winner’s circle in their only local driving appearance. Dexter Dunn nearly joined that list in impressive fashion, winning four of five drives – all in stakes races – last week.
