Vernon, NY – Vernon Downs played host for two $55,500 divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old trotting colts & geldings on Friday (July 10).
Gio’s Hope (Dunn) captures the first division
Seven Pledges (Jason Bartlett) got to the quarter first in :28.2. He used a :29.2 second quarter as he led to the half in :57.4. Gio’s Hope ($15.92) made his move first-up from third as they went around the final turn. Seven Pledges was first to three quarters in 1:26.0.
Gio’s Hope and second place finisher Seven Pledges battled into the stretch. Gio’s Hope surged to the front and won going away in 1:55.0. T Money (Tyler Buter) finished third.
Gio’s Hope is a colt by Chapter Seven-Southwind Hope. He is owned by Brixton Medical and Hatfield Stables while trained by Melander. He is now one for one in his career.
Bigtime Chapter (Dunn) takes the second division
Uncle Rob (Tyler Miller) went straight to the front from his outside post and was first to the quarter in :29.1. Bigtime Chapter ($6.86) popped the pocket and took over control reaching the half first in :59.2. He led to three quarters in 1:28.3.
As they reached the stretch second place finisher Uncle Rob gave everything he had but fell short as Bigtime Chapter won in 1:57.2. Archon (Jordan Stratton) was third best.
Bigtime Chapter is a colt by Chapter Seven-Fined Tuned Lady. He is owned by Jeffrey Snyder and trained by Melander. He is now one for one.
