Nichols, NY — Soft Shot (Kyle Swift) captured the $14,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (July 10).
Illusion Seelster (Braxten Boyd) was guided to the front and led to the quarter in :26.2. She used a :28.3 second quarter to zoom to the half in :55. Soft Shot ($4.36) made her move first-up going down the backstretch and took a short lead to three-quarters in 1:22.1.
As they made the turn for home, it was second-place finisher Illusion Seelster on the inside with Soft Shot on the outside. Soft Shot edged on by winning in 1:51. Fashion Terror (Greg Merton) finished third.
Soft Shot Is a 5-year-old mare by Heston Blue Chip. She is owned by Paul O’Neil and trained by Jaymes McAssey. It was her sixth win this season and her 25th career victory.
Ridge Warren drove five winners on the card. He got his wins with She B Crazy, Artic Thunder, HC Commander, Ima Happy Fella GB, and Kissapotamus. Cory Stratton had a training and driving double.
Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Saturday (July 11) starting at 6:15 p.m. Fireworks will follow live racing.
