Vernon, NY – Churchview Meow IR (Chris Long) charges late to capture $5,500 featured fillies & mares’ pace at Vernon Downs on Thursday (July 23).
Churchview Meow IR ($6.16) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :27.1. Bonhomie Hanover (Kyle Swift) took her turn at the lead, but it was short lived as SS Superstar (Steeven Genios) then took command to the half in :56.4. Bonhomie Hanover popped out of the pocket and went after the lead again. SS Superstar led to three quarters in 1:25.3.
As they entered the stretch Churchview Meow IR made her move flying down the lane like she was shot out of a cannon winning easily equaling her lifetime best mark in 1:54.3. Princessbythesea (Jimmy Whittemore) came on late to finish second. Dizzy Lizzy (Ron Harp) got third money.
Churchview Meow IR is a 4-year-old mare by Foreclosure N. She is owned by Peter Gentile Jr. and trained by Joe Sansone. It was her fifth win this season and the 14th career victory.
Chris Long and Steeven Genois had driving doubles.
