Wilkes-Barre, PA – This Sunday (July 26) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, the last of the scheduled 5 p.m. (EDT) twilight cards is scheduled, with a new Pocono feature highlighting the action – the inaugural $75,000 Mohegan Cup, for free-for-all pacing mares.
The leading money-winner for 2026 in the Mohegan Cup field of eight is Louies Girl N, who has earned $316,375 for Peaceful Acre Farm (just two hours down the road from Pocono in Lititz, Pa.) and trainer Per Engblom. The daughter of Lord Forbes earned about half her yearly bankroll in the Ursula McIntyre Series at MGM Yonkers Raceway, and the other half since then, winning the Betsy Ross at Pocono’s sister PHHA track Philly and the Roses Are Red elimination, with consistent close finishes against the best of her division. Jason Bartlett is set to drive Louies Girl N at Pocono, starting from post 3.
The Huntsville mare Unreasonable, good in Kentucky action at Oak Grove Racing & Gaming, has been outstanding in her last two starts, both times within a half-length of former Horse of the Year Twin B Joe Fresh. Purchased at the start of the year by the Punisher 11 Stable LLC, part of which is trainer Andrew Harris, Unreasonable will begin from post 5, the most favorable starting spot at Pocono, for driver Todd McCarthy.
The Last Martini, another daughter of Huntsville, is trained by Jared Bako for Glenview Livestock LTD, and will be handled by Colin Kelly from post 6. The Last Martini is the only millionaire in the field (just shy of $1.23 million), with a large portion of that cash earned in the important Breeders Crown championships; the now 4-year-old was second in the Crown championship at 2 and then dead-heated for the victory at 3.
Post time for the Mohegan Cup, which is named for the Connecticut-based Native American tribe who operates Pocono Downs, should come a little before 8 p.m., as the 10th race on a card of 12 events. Free Pocono program pages are or will be available at www.phha.org.
