Washington, PA – Shacarri and Be Perfect BG won their respective $64,052 divisions of the Grade 3 Mickey Burke Adioo Volo Stakes, for 3-year-old female pacers, on Saturday (July 25) at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
In the first division, Shacarri and driver Yannick Gingras got the lead on the first turn before yielding to Topville Lucky in a :27.2 opening quarter. Topville Lucky remained in control through a :56 half and 1:23 three-quarters but faced pressure from first-over favorite Miss Jum Jabber on the final turn. Miss Jum Jabber took the lead heading into the stretch but was unable to fend off Shacarri, who got up on the outside to win by a nose in 1:49.3. Topville Lucky was third.
Shacarri, trained by Ron Burke, is a daughter of Summa Cum Laude-Rockin Racer. She is owned by breeders Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, and Phil Collura in partnership with Zippett Racing Stable.
The victory was Shacarri’s first of the year and fifth of her career, pushing her lifetime earnings to $274,711. She paid $32.20 as the 15-1 third choice in the wagering.
In the second division, Be Perfect BG and driver Dexter Dunn took a first-over lead nearing the :26.2 opening quarter and remained on top from there through splits of :53.4 and 1:20.4 en route to a 2-3/4-length win in 1:49. The time was one-fifth of a second off My Girl EJ’s stakes record set in 2024. I’m A Lou Lou finished second and Perfect Thought was third.
Be Perfect BG has 10 wins and two seconds in 12 career starts, earning $393,295. She is trained by Anthony Beaton for owner Ecurie CSL. The daughter of Perfect Sting-JK Mardi Says was bred by 3 Brothers Stable.
She paid $2.20 to win.
