Vernon, NY — Churchview Meow IR (Chris Long) captured the $5,500 featured pace for fillies and mares at Vernon Downs on Thursday (July 30).
Churchview Meow IR ($4.80) went straight to the lead and led to the quarter in :27.4. She used a :29.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :57. She glided to three quarters in 1:25.
As they entered mid-stretch, second-place finisher The Hunt Is On (Jacquavyian Carter) came flying late but ran out of real estate as Churchview Meow IR held on and won in a lifetime best 1:54.2. Dizzy Lizzy (Ron Harp) finished third.
Churchview Meow IR is a 4-year-old mare by Foreclosure N. She is owned by Peter Gentile Jr. and trained by Joe Sansone. It was her sixth win of the season and her 15th career victory.
Carter finished the night with a natural driving hat trick. Leon Bailey had a driving double. Wayne Bouck had a training double.
