Columbus, OH – Trainer Vernon Beachy had a big night at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Thursday (July 30), taking three out of the six Ohio State Fair Stakes for 2-year-old trotters, winning with the filly Made For More and males Mind On My Moni and Debt Free.
Next Generation winner Made For More took the last $54,500 filly division of the evening in 1:56. Originally getting away third, Ronnie Wrenn Jr. quickly moved the favorite to the front as the field neared the :29.2 opening quarter. Leading the rest of the mile through splits of :58.3 and 1:27.4, Made For More easily won by three lengths over Sweet Stevie (driven by Kurt Sugg); Shinie T (Trevor Smith) was third.
Made For More, by Long Tom out of the Chapter Seven mare Obsessed Blue Chip, now has two wins and two seconds in four lifetime starts and $127,250 earned for owner/breeder John Schlabach.
Mind On My Moni is now a perfect four for four, winning his $55,500 split in 1:55.4, a new lifetime mark. Parked three-wide going into the first turn, Wrenn got Mind On My Moni to the front and led through :29.2, 1:00 and 1:27.4 fractions. Flushed first-up going into the second turn, Iluvmymoni (David Miller) tracked down the leader but could only get within a length and a quarter; Cool Julio (Tyler Smith) came from the back of the pack to get up for third.
Mind On My Moni, bred by Winbak Farm, is out of the Angus Hall mare JJ’s Jordyn. A $21,000 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase, Mind On My Moni now has $67,250 in earnings.
Debt Free (Ty. Smith) got the pocket trip behind pacesetter Jet Range (Brett Miller) as that duo set fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:26. Walks The Fire (Wrenn) made the lead just after the three-quarters, but Debt Free got up to win over his stablemate by 3-1/4 lengths in 1:55.2. Range Espress (Sandy Beatty) got up for third.
Debt Free, out of the Chapter Seven mare Feelsofree, was bred by John Schlabach and was a $23,000 Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale purchase. The gelding now has $46,250 earned in three lifetime starts.
Both of Beachy’s male winners are by Ready For Moni and owned by 518 Group, Gitup Racing, Ryan Smith and Todd’s Auto.
The first division for colts and geldings, going for $56,250, was won by Lou Armstrong (Anthony MacDonald) in 1:55. Originally getting away third as Satan’s Fury (Wrenn) was parked going to the :28.2 opening quarter, Lou Armstrong pulled just as the field was coming out of the first turn. Making the top, the gelding set fractions of :56.4 and 1:25.4 before winning by a length over Satan’s Fury. Roll’n In Moni (Chris Lems) came from midfield to finish third.
Lou Armstrong, bred by TheStable My Jazz Group, is now owned by TheStable Lou Armstrong. By Cuatro De Julio out of the My MVP mare My Jazz, the Jason McGinnis trainee now has three wins in four starts and $47,125 earned.
Secrets Ilia took the fastest division for fillies in 1:55. Getting the perfect pocket trip behind Envious Queen (D. Miller) through quarters of :28, :57 and 1:26.4, Secrets Ilia (B. Miller) confidently took the lead midway down the stretch to win by a length. Envious Queen was second, with Take Her Home (Chris Page) finishing third.
It was the second win in three starts for Secrets Ilia, who is trained by Micah Miller for Wayne Mast Jr. and Callam Racing. By Long Tom out of the CJ’s Secret mare CJ’s Super Secret, Secrets Ilia was a $28,000 Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale purchase from breeder Mose Yoder. The win set a new lifetime mark for Secrets Ilia who now has $56,250 earned.
The In Range filly Rose Run Cybill won the first filly division in 1:56 for driver Kurt Sugg and trainer Daren Harvey. Parked three-wide going through the first turn, Rose Run Cybill made the top and led through fractions of :28.1, :56.4 and 1:27. Indigo Times (Kayne Kauffman) came from the back of the pack but could only get within 6-1/2 lengths of the winner; Missredwhitenblue (Page) was third.
Rose Run Cybill, out of the Broadway Hall mare Rose Run Timeless, was a $77,000 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase from Rose Run Farm. Owned by Wayne Mast Jr. and Callam Racing, Rose Run Cybill still has a perfect record, winning all three of her starts, and now has earnings of $77,250.
Racing, and Ohio State Fair, action continues Friday (July 31) at Scioto with a 16-race card starting at 5:25 p.m. (EDT). Filly Friday includes OSF races for 2-year-old pacers, 3-year-old pacers and 3-year-old trotters, along with older mare trotters and older mare pacers.
The 91-day 2026 Eldorado Scioto Downs regular season runs through Saturday, Sept. 19. Races will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays starting in August. There will be a special holiday card on Labor Day instead of the Tuesday card that week and no live racing on Friday (Sept. 18) to accommodate horsemen attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale. The track will then re-open for the Breeders Crown, with eliminations held Oct. 16-17 and the finals Oct. 23-24.
