Vernon, NY – Chapvious (Jacquavyian Carter) captures the $7,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (July 31).Tiktok Roy (Chris Long) trotted to the early lead and led to the quarter in :27.1. He used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.3. Ramborain (Frank Affrunti) was first to make a move as they headed around the final turn. Tiktok Roy was first to three quarters in 1:25.4.
As they headed down the stretch it was third place finisher Tiktok Roy on the inside. Second place finisher Ramborain on the outside. Chapvious ($5.22) slipped between horses to win in 1:54.4.
Chapvious is a 4-year-old mare by Devious Man. He is owned by Purple Haze Stables and trained by George Ducharme. It was his fifth win this season and his ninth career victory.
Kyle Swift had a driving grand slam. He finished first with Abraham Hanover, Mont Saint Michel, Woodside Gabe and American Sunshine. Gary Gibson and Jordan Derue had training doubles.
