Vernon, NY — One More Bet (Jimmy Whittemore, $3.54) captured the $7,500 featured fillies and mares pace at Vernon Downs on Thursday (Aug. 6).
One More Bet charged to the front from her outside post and led to the quarter in :27.1. She used a:29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.4. Better Double Flip (Chris Long) came first-up to challenge as they went around the final turn. One More Bet led to three-quarters in 1:25.1.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Better Double Flip kept putting pressure on, but One More Bet was up for the challenge and won in 1:52.4. Churchview Meow IR (Jacquavyian Carter) finished third.
One More Bet is a 5-year-old mare by All Bets Off. He is owned by Michael Miller and trained by Hannah Miller. It was her seventh win this season and her 16th career victory.
Jimmy Whittemore had a driving hat trick. Truman Gale had a driving double.
