Columbus, OH – Eldorado Scioto Downs played host to three $20,000 divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old filly pacers on Friday (Aug. 7).
The fastest division went to Eyes Up for driver/trainer, husband/wife team Cameron and Jessica McCown. Making her way to the front from post four, Eyes Up led the field through fractions of :26.3, :55.2 and 1:23.1 before winning by a length over Dragon’s Blaze (Trevor Smith); Katie’s On Fire (Sam Widger) was third. Eyes Up, by Lather Up out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Dazzling Rockette, was a $8,500 Blooded Horse Sale purchase from breeder Donald Hoovler. Owned by Caldwell Mamie Racing, Eyes Up now with five wins in 22 lifetime starts with $71,597 in earnings.
Shehasaway (Smith) took the first division in 1:53.4 for trainer Steve Bauder. Lil Keisha (Chris Page) set the fractions of :28.4, :59 and 1:26 while Shehasaway got away fourth. Coming first up at the half, Shehasaway posted a :27 last quarter to win by a neck over Lil Keisha; I Aint A Fool (Luke Hanners) was third. By Summa Cum Laude out of the Artiscape mare Town Temptress, Shehasawayis a homebred for Steve and Harold Bauder and is also co-owned by Douglas Swihart. Shehasaway now has $89,782 earned in 15 lifetime starts with four wins.
The last division was won by Ima Beach Girl (Hanners) in 1:52.2. Mingle In Dingle (David Miller) set the early fractions as Ima Beach Girl waited back in third. Setting fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:24.3, Mingle In Dingle was unpressured, but down the backstretch Ima Beach Girl pulled and got up alongside the leader mid-way through the last turn. Posting a :27.1 last quarter, Ima Beach Girl won by a neck over Mingle In Dingle; pocket sitter Baxter Tough (Tyler Smith) was third. By Downbytheseaside out of the Western Hanover mare Tea Pot Hanover, Ima Beach Girl was a $22,000 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase from breeder Parent Racing Stable. Owned by Schillaci Stables, John Manning and Sam Bova Racing, the Sam Schillaci trainee now has three wins in 23 lifetime starts with $120,347 earned.
Racing continues at Scioto Downs Saturday (Aug, 8) with a 16-race card starting at 5:25 p.m.
The 91-day 2026 Eldorado Scioto Downs regular season runs through Saturday, September 19. Races are held Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays, with a special holiday card on Labor Day instead of the Tuesday card that week and no live racing on Friday (September 18) to accommodate horsemen attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale. The track will then re-open for the Breeders Crown, with eliminations held October 16-17 and the finals October 23-24.
