Indianaoplis, IN – Once the premier 2-year-old pace in the country, the 100th edition of the Fox Stake along with other open-to-the-world events will be raced on Wednesday (Aug.12) at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
From the inaugural race won by Red Pluto in 2:06 in 1927, the list of winners has included four “Horses of the Year”: Albatross, Bret Hanover, Good Time, Torpid and, more recently, The Chosen One who was bred, owned, trained and driven by Indiana connections Denise Dennis and her husband Jeff Edwards of Indianapolis.
Other highlights for the day include:
The undefeated trotting gelding Dan D Man Can in the Horseman #117, one of 20 entered on the card by Indiana State Fair based trainer Erv Miller;
Drivers from the ages of 18 to 76 – Kevin Detweiler and Dan Shetler Jr
Daughter of the fastest mare of all-time (Shartin N p, 1:46 4/5) Kountry Legacy who is seeking her 3rd victory in 5 starts for owners Pollack Racing LLC & Jeff Cullipher;
3-year-old sidewheeling filly Stay Thrilling who is owned and trained by Dean Collins former caretaker for Indiana bred champion Rambling Willie, the Horse That God Loved.
