Columbus, MN – The Thursday night (Aug. 13) harness racing program at Running Aces featured the weekly $16,000 Mares Open Handicap pace and K T Part E gave her fans plenty to celebrate by delivering her third straight win and her sixth win in her last seven starts.
Sent off as the overwhelming 1-20 favorite from post 6, driver Brady Jenson floated her away wide in fourth during the opening eighth of a mile while Premier Desirey (driven by Dean Magee) and Miss May Bell (with Nick Roland) battled for the first call.
Premier Desirey relegated Miss May Bell to the pocket and then K T Part E came looking for the lead as they registered a :27.1 opening stanza.
K T Part E made the front just before the three-eighths marker and was well settled as they rounded past the half in :56.1.
Down the backstretch, Mother Mary and Rick Magee tried a first over bid from fourth, providing cover to Wish I Had Thyme.
Jenson turned up the speed as they headed for the far turn and K T Part E was well in command as they rolled past the three-quarter mark in 1:24.
Premier Desirey shook free from the pocket in the homestretch and tried to come after the leader, but K T Part E had plenty in reserve and kicked clear for a 1-3/4-length tally in 1:51.2 while Miss May Bell picked up the pieces late for third money.
The $2.10 winner is a 4-year-old daughter of Cattlewash. She now shows 20 wins from 37 career starts with earnings of $150,448. Jenson is also the winning owner and trainer.
Drivers Mooney Svendsen, Brady Jenson and Nick Roland all had doubles on the program while Quentin Schneider and Roland each posted two training wins.
Live racing returns to Running Aces on Sunday night (Aug. 16) for a special “Whatever It Takes Race Night” that will feature the Steve Wiseman Memorial trot final, with a very talented field of seven going for a purse of $35,000. The night will benefit The Colon Cancer Coalition in memory of Wiseman. Sunday is also “Pepsi Family Night” and will feature specials and kids’ activities, a T-shirt giveaway, trout fishing, food trucks, a handicapping contest and more.
Sunday’s 12-race program will get underway at 6 p.m. (CDT).
