Nichols, NY – Driver Ridge Warren had a night to remember when he took seven horses to the winner’s circle including Selina’s Choice in the featured $12,000 fillies & mares’ Summer Pop Up Series Final at Tioga Downs on Friday (Aug. 14).
Escape The House (Mike Merton) took the early lead in the feature and led to the quarter in :26.4. Selina’s Choice ($2.10) then took over the lead heading to the clubhouse turn. She was first to the half in :55.2. She cruised to three quarters in 1:24.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Mimosa On The Key (Jim Pantaleano) went all out after the lead but couldn’t get close to Selina’s Choice, who won easily by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:54. Wicked Cruizer (Jim Taggert Jr.) finished third.
Selina’s Choice is a 5-year-old mare by Courtly Choice. She is owned by Bay Pond Racing and trained by Joe Pavia Jr. It was her third win this season and her sixth career victory.
Warren got his other wins with She B Crazy, Berryroad, Woodmere Harriet, Sonofabusinessman, Camco Lucas, and Breeze Inheritance.
