Washington, PA – Hollywood Casino at The Meadows hosted 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers Friday evening (Aug. 21). A single $129,491 division of the Tyler B Stakes highlighted the card, along with three Stallion Series divisions.

A select field of six lined up behind the starting gate for the Tyler B Stakes, and after some early jockeying for position, Eastie Boy and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. worked their way to the front through an opening quarter of :26.3. The pace picked up through a half of :55.4, as Stonebridge Blitz provided pressure in a :26.4 third quarter, but the son of Sweet Lou rebuffed the only serious challenge and paced away under wraps to a career-best 1:50.2 effort. Eastie Boy is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.
Corey Callahan piloted winners in two Stallion Series divisions. Celtic Wave made it three in a row in Stallion Series competition with a wire-to-wire, lifetime-best 1:51.3 effort. Trained by John Berger, the son of Captaintreacherous held off Current Events with a :27.1 final quarter to score a nose victory. Celtic Wave is owned by Kiefer Elite Bidstock LLC, Theresa Donnelly and John Berger.
The second Callahan victory came courtesy of a pocket trip and a :26.4 final quarter with Scorecard Hounddog. The son of Stay Hungry followed Sassinator to the stretch on his way to a 1:51.3 victory and a second straight Stallion Series win for trainer Vernon Beachy and owners Green Acre LLC and Mike Kilmas.
Hungry Marco and Tim Tetrick made it back-to-back wins in Stallion Series action with a head victory over Captain Charlie. Tetrick put the son of Stay Hungry on the lead and controlled the race on the way to a 1:52.1 victory. Hungry Marco is trained by Jamie Sullivan for owners David Hamm, Glenn Phillips and Frank Chick.
Friday evening honors went to drivers Corey Callahan and Ronnie Wrenn Jr., who each recorded two wins. Ron Burke’s two victories gave him training honors, while Stay Hungry’s two Stallion Series wins gave him top sire honors.
