Nichols, NY – Super Duper Cooper, driven by Braxten Boyd, won the $15,500 Open Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Aug. 29). He is 4-for-4 in the Open Trot at Tioga this year.
Makes Me Charlie (driven by Ridge Warren) went to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3. He used a :28.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.1. Super Duper Cooper made his move heading down the backstretch. Makes Me Charlie led to three-quarters in 1:24.2.
As they made the turn for home, Super Duper Cooper flew right past third-place finisher Makes Me Charlie to get the win in 1:54.4. El Toro Loco (Tom Merton) finished second.
Super Duper Cooper is owned by Pollack Racing and trained by Enrico Robinson. It was his seventh win this season and his 19th career victory. He paid $3.28 to win.
Driver Mitchell Cushing had a big night with four winners on the card. He was first with Double Account, Buddywontletyadown, Father Mike, and Solesseo Matuca A. Boyd drove three winners and Ridge Warren had a driving double.
Robinson and Jamie Daley had training doubles.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing as they host the Empire Breeders Classic (EBC) for 3-year-old pacing fillies as well as pacing colts and geldings on Sunday (Aug. 30) starting at 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
