Windsor, ME – Tenzing Bromac N dominated an ultra-accomplished field of top-level pacers on Saturday (Sept. 5), rolling to victory, in near record time, while claiming top honors in the $15,000 renewal of the Windsor Fair Invitational for the second year-in-a-row.
In harness to driver Ron Cushing, the 9-year-old son of Bettor’s Delight left briskly from post four, in an apparent attempt to replicate his stirring gate-to-wire victory in the 2025 edition of the invitational.
Quickly distancing themselves from the field, Cushing and his charge found themselves 1-1/4 lengths in front as they steamed to the quarter in a daunting :27.2. Breezing into the second turn, the opportunity to catch a breather was graciously accepted while the field worked to close the gap approaching the half which was reached in a reasonably reachable :56.2.
Emboldened by their progress, both So Rock N’ Roll (Kevin Switzer, Jr), and Two Fold Cold (Bruce Ranger) angled for their challenges at that point, only to be quickly dissuaded, as Cushing quickly asked and Tenzing Bromac N promptly answered in the affirmative, and the tandem accelerated into what would prove a deviously designed, and ultimately insurmountable :27.4 third panel.
Never relinquishing and with their foes back in line, Cushing unwrapped yet another of Tenzing Bromac N’s gears as they reached the three-quarter-pole in a dazzling 1:24.1 before actually accelerating further into a closing panel of :27.3 to stop the clock in 1:51.4 – Just 2/5ths of a second off the track (and state-of-Maine record) that has stood since 2016.
So Rock N’ Roll finished second while Two Fold Cold was third.
Tenzing Bromac N is trained by Heidi Cushing and owned in partnership by Kevin Sywyk with Ron Cushing. The win was the 7th of the season and 29th career score for the veteran Kiwi-bred pacer.
“He’s been sharp all week, really for the last month-and-a-half. He’s good all the time but for the last month-and-a-half he’s been really sharp” Cushing explained, “The track was really good today too. They’ve been taking great care of it the last couple of years and it shows. We really appreciate that.
“We were a couple of 1/5ths off the track record but a lot of good horses have tried. I was really proud of my horse today. You know, my partner and I have been doing this for over 20 years – I don’t want to date myself – we’ve had some really nice horses but this horse is one I’m really proud of, he raced really well.”
Back to back wins in this prestigious event, with both wins registering the fastest time recorded in the state-of-Maine in those respective seasons, have surely cemented Tenzing Bromac N’s reputation as one of the most magical pacers to ever grace the confines of the Pine Tree State.
And with the 2026 edition in the record books, we can’t wait to see what magic the Windsor Fair Invitational unlocks in 2027.
