The yearling auctions are in full swing in Italy these days. On Monday (Sept. 7), two auctions were held in the town of Busto Arsizio, outside Milan: one auction exclusively for offspring of Face Time Bourbon and the annual ITS Selected Sale.
At the Face Time Bourbon auction, the filly Monamour Gio brought the highest price with a bid of $261,000. Monamour Gio is a full sister to the top mare Funny Gio — 1:52.4 — $925,000.
A total of 17 offspring were sold at an average price of $119,000.
At the ITS auction, the colt Meadowlands As, by Chapter Seven out of Susy by Father Patrick, topped the sale with a bid of $197,500.
Susy, a half-sister to, among others, Shake It Cerry, 1:51.2 — $2,786,104, was imported to Italy in foal to Chapter Seven. In the United States, she is also the dam of Devastate by Chapter Seven, Q1:53.2 — $70,233.
The highest-priced filly was Milady Gar, by the Italian-based stallion Nad Al Sheba out of Lady Killer Gar by Windsong’s Legacy. Milady Gar cost $168,500 and is a half-sister to Cobra Killer Gar by Readly Express — 1:50.3 — $797,751.
The average price at the auction was $41,928 for 94 yearlings sold.
Once again, the colts brought the highest average at $50,834 for 42 sold, while the fillies averaged $34,735 for 52 sold.
