Fort Wayne, IN – James H. Wilson, 92, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away Sept. 5, 2026, in his home.
Born in November 1933, in Flint, Mich., he was a son of Rufus and Opal Wilson.
He served in the Army and then worked Plant Security for General Motors. He took an early retirement and has spent the last 40 years owning, training and driving harness racehorses. He loved his horses, especially trotters. He had a few special horses: B L Bright Willie, an Indiana Sire Stakes champion, and he owned Just For Trix, a Kentucky Sire Stakes champion and the fastest trotter in 2023.
James is survived by his daughter, Teri Jenkins; granddaughter and her husband, Shanna Jenkins and Dom Sower; and brothers, Charles Wilson and Roger Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wilson; son in law, William Jenkins; parents, Rufus and Opal Wilson; brothers, Robert Wilson and Ronald Wilson; and sisters, Billie Hunt, Doris Moss, and Nancy Morgan.
There will be a private service at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Ind.
