Chesapeake City, MD – Winbak Farm is saddened to announce the passing of Hall of Fame broodmare Arl’s Troublemaker. She was euthanized on Sept. 5 due to age-related issues. She was 34 years old. She was bred by Bernard Foti.

Arl’s Troublemaker, p, 2, 1:55.4; 3, 1:54.2; 1:53.2 ($143,945), won 20 times in her race career before becoming a broodmare.
Arl’s Troublemaker was purchased by Winbak Farm in 1998 and had resided as a broodmare at Winbak Farm of Maryland for most of her life.
Her offspring earned $3,200,149 and included Art Maker, p, 1:49.1 ($1,036,217), Stock Market Wiz, p, 1:49.3 ($739,283), Breakin The Law, p, 1:49.4 ($524,805), Solo Story, p, 1:50 ($374,874), Thumbprint, p, 1:53.3f ($205,925), and Own It, p, 1:53.2h ($178,615).
“Arl’s Troublemaker is a major founding broodmare for Winbak Farm,” said Joe Thomson, Winbak Farm owner. “Two of her daughters and multiple granddaughters are part of the current broodmare band.”
Arl’s Troublemaker was voted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 2016 for producing a millionaire and two earners of $500,000.
Her daughters have had successful broodmare careers. Arl’s Troublemaker is the second dam of Clear Idea, p, 1:50.4f ($639,323), Dubious Claim, p, 1:49.1s ($345,830), Kim’s Royal Day, p, 3, 1:51f ($331,648), Artist Best, p, 1:51 ($315,471), America’s Guest, p, 1:51.3f ($315,399), and many more winning performers.
“Arl’s Troublemaker left an immeasurable impact on Winbak Farm,” said Thomson. “She will be missed by the whole Winbak Farm team.”
