Gratz, PA – Overnight precipitation has forced the cancellation of the card at Gratz (PA) for Sunday (Sept. 13), a day reserved for the 2-year-old Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes races.
The forecast suggests that there will be racing for the 3-year-olds on Monday (Sept. 14) at noon, although the projected temperatures will be at least ten degrees cooler than those forecast for Sunday.
The cancellation could impact the chances of horses looking to earn their way into October 9’s Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes Championships at The Meadows. All entered horses that had not been scratched earn a uniform 9 points, but several horses sit on a “bubble line” near the top eight horses in the seasonlong pointstandings, and thus do not get a chance to race for the 35 points given for a first, and so forth, which would help them get a guaranteed spot in the top eight and the Championship.
After the Monday Gratz card, there are two more stops scheduled on this season’s Pennsylvania Fair Circuit: the Somerset County Fair in Meyersdale will host a 2-Day event this coming Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20 at 1 p.m.; those races will be drawn this Thursday. The final stop on the 2026 PA circuit is scheduled for September 25-26, Friday and Saturday, at the Bloomsburg Fair, with an 11 a.m. post time.
