Columbus, MN – The Sunday night (Sept. 13) program at Running Aces featured two divisions of Minnesota-sired sophomore trotters as well as the weekly Open Handicap trot.
Bang Bang Boogie and driver Rick Magee went to the top from post 6 and never looked back en route to his 11th win of the season in the $21,000 sophomore “A” division with a 1:58.2 mile. He won by a neck over HM Magical Money (driven by Nick Roland), with My Little Maverick (Dean Magee) finishing third.
Bang Bang Boogie, a son of New Jersey Viking who returned $2.80 on top, now shows earnings of $99,510 from 16 starts this season for owners Stephanie Anfinson and Ken Stauffer and trainer Justin Anfinson.
DP Freedoms Chrome made it two wins in a row with a sharp 1:54.2 tally in the $21,500 Open Handicap trot for his 32nd career win. Dean Magee was in the bike for the three-quarter of a length score over Fifty Rivers (Mooney Svendsen) and Peanutbutterfalcon (Scott Cisco).
The $4 winner is by For You Almostfree and is owned by Aimes Racing and trained by Elvin Zimmerman.
SV Rough And Tough rolled to a gate-to-wire tally in the $14,000 sophomore “B” split for his 10th career win and a new career mark of 1:58.2 with trainer/driver Brady Jenson in the bike. Shots On Goal (Svendsen) completed the exacta and The Big Bomb (Brian Detgen) was home in third. The $2.80 winner, a son of Tom Ridge, pushed his career bankroll to $105,875 for owner Larry Mather.
There are three nights left to go in the 2026 season at Running Aces:
Tuesday (Sept. 15) with post time at 7 p.m. (CDT) and special programs on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 18 and 19) with post times at 6 p.m. (CDT) for Champions weekend.
Friday’s program will feature the Minnesota-sired Consolation races, and Saturday is the Minnesota Night of Champions with 12 Championship races all going for $65,000 each. Total purses for the two nights will be over $1 million.
