Mons, Belgium — Go On Boy, driven by Romain Derieux, won Belgium’s major race, the Grand Prix du Wallonie, for the third time on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 19).
The 10-year-old French trotter Go On Boy (Password) had an easy time of it after favorite Inexcess Bleu, driven by Alexandre Abrivard, ruined his chances by breaking stride at the start and was disqualified.
After Keep Going, driven by Matthieu Mottier, took the lead, Romain Derieux moved his veteran star forward after 600 meters and easily took command. The pair then pulled away to win in a mile rate of 1.55.2 rate over the 1-3/4-mile distance.
Jingle du Pont, driven by Nicolas Bazire, closed strongly to finish second while Krack Time du Pont, driven by Franck Nivard, finished third.
It was Go On Boy’s third victory in the Grand Prix du Wallonie; he also won the race in 2023 and 2024.
The total purse was €150,000, with €72,000 going to the winner.
