Delaware, OH — The Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) wrapped up their International event against drivers from The Netherlands and Sweden Sunday (Sept. 20). Stacey Currie and Steve Oldford won the two final events in the competition, contested over the iconic half-mile oval at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, Ohio.
Currie kicked off the festivities by guiding her recent arrival, Dirty Money, to a 2:02.4 trotting win over a track labeled “good” with her victory measuring three-parts-of-a-length over Unclejohnnysecret, driven by Nico Post, representing The Netherlands. Skyway Slick was a nose better than Four Wheelin, handled by Christina Johnson, and Della Grande picked up the nickel in the opener.
The finale of the International competition went to You Found Out, driven by Steve Oldford, in a wire-to-wire effort in 1:57.4 over K J Todd, with Jazmin S short in the bike.
Fanatic, driven by Christina Johnson, finished third while Dublins Dragonfly, teamed with Sweden’s Sune Hansen, finished fourth, a neck better than Countryofmars teamed up with Jason Borossky.
Little Brown Jug week kicked off with Sunday’s opening day card, with Dirty Money and Currie claiming the first race. The duo came from near the back of the pack — 7th at the opening quarter — and began grinding forward thereafter. They reached fourth halfway through the mile and began looking the leader, Unclejohnnyssecret, right in the eye at the third station before engaging in battle with that one to the wire.
Ms. Currie, known for her training prowess with a lifetime “batting average” in the area of .400, got her second driving win in 2026 in nine tries.
Dirty Money, a 7-year-old gelded son of Cash Hall owned and trained by Ms. Currie, improved his 2026 resume to 3-1-2 in 19 stars, vaulting his seasonal bankroll to $20,287 and $236,714 lifetime. He paid $7.60 to win.
Oldford took the wire-to-wire route in guiding You Found Out, a 5-year-old altered son of Cantab Hall, to victory in his event. He used a :28.3 finale after giving his charge superior rating of :28.3, :59.2 and 1:29.1 along the way to winning by a length.
You Found Out, owned by Oldford, is trained by Allen Cisco and pumped up his season record to 4-5-5 in 29 starts, good for $37,261 this year and $105,699 lifetime. You Found Out returned $4.80 to win as the slight favorite.
It was Oldford’s 214th career victory in the bike.
In a post-race interview, Oldford reflected on the entire experience lamenting, “The competition is secondary to the camaraderie that is shown by everyone.
“These folk from The Netherlands and Sweden are true horsemen and it is an honor to be in there presence when they come here to America.
“The racetrack was fantastic despite the amount of rain that it had to swallow and Tom Wright and his crew performed a miracle to make it as great as it was.
“It kind of reminded me the stories of Curly Smart performing magic then Bret Hanover set his world records way back when (1965).
“Tom and Patty Sweeney are preparing to carry the festivities even further with their cooking skills and it couldn’t be better!
“After all, IT’S JUG WEEK!”
