Vernon, NY – Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) captured the $7,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Sept. 25).
Emma Town Bud ($7.88) charged to the quarter first in :26.4. Snowpiercer (Leon Bailey) came along side heading down the backstretch. Emma Town Bud had a short lead to the half in :56.4. He got some separation and led to three quarters in 1:25.3.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Chapvious (Jacquavyian Carter) went all out after the leader, but Emma Town Bud found another gear and won in 1:53.4. Helphasarrived (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) finished third.
Emma Town Bud is a 9-year-old gelding by Big Stick Lindy. He is owned by Nicole Bovay Gurtner and trained by Pierre Bovay. It was his third win this season and his 35th career victory.
Leon Bailey and Jacquavyian Carter had driving hat tricks. Jessica Okusko had a training hat trick. Truman Gale had a driving double. Gary Gibson had a training double.
