On Sunday (Sept. 27), 3-year-old Swedish/French stallion Nanda Devi Cut set a world record for 3-year-old stallions when he won a qualifier for the Swedish Trotting Criterium in 1:55.4f at Solvalla.
Nanda Devi Cut is trained by Mattias Djuse and had Mats E. Djuse in the bike and won easily after he took the lead early.
His winning time of 1:55.3f (mile rate) over 1-3/4 miles was one fraction better that Villiam’s nine-year-old world record of 1:55.4f, set in the 2017 Swedish Trotting Criterium.
Nanda Devi Cut is yet another standout by Swedish champion sire Maharajah.
He has made 12 starts, with five wins and five second-place finishes. Nanda Devi Cut has earned particularly strong purses by winning two races in Margaretas Tidiga Unghästserie, as well as a Breeders Crown event.
Following Sunday’s victory at Solvalla, his career earnings now total approximately $132,557.
Nanda Devi Cut’s dam is the all-French Himalaya Cut (Charly du Noyer), 1:56.3 – €49,050. She is out of the same mare as Gelati Cut (Coktail Jet), 1:54.4 – €490,020. He now stands at stud, and his first crop is 3 years old in 2026.
Nanda Devi Cut, named after Nanda Devi, India’s second-highest mountain, is Himalaya Cut’s first foal.
She has since produced three foals in France. The first was the 2024 filly Olmalaya Cut, by Love You, who has made two starts, breaking stride and being disqualified in both.
Another filly, Pulvinella Cut (Royal Dream), followed in 2025, and in 2026 Himalaya Cut produced another filly, this one by Tactical Landing.
This year, Himalaya Cut was bred to Idao de Tillard.
Both Himalaya Cut and all of her offspring are owned by their breeder, France’s Ecurie de Windcut.
