Yonkers, NY — Tony Beltrami and Yogi Sheridan both capitalized from pylon draws with different trips to win in their respective divisions of the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) trots at MGM Yonkers Raceway on Thursday night (Oct. 1).

Beltrami zipped up the rim with Canthaveme around the last turn to snag a 2:00.2 victory in the first NAADA division. He landed into third early as PC Free Wheeling (driven by Rey Franco) pushed for the lead to a :29.4 first quarter with Certify (Mike Polansky) following in the pocket. Canthaveme continued steadily from his position through a :59.3 half before Beltrami activated him for an attack in the backstretch. He marched uncovered towards PC Free Wheeling past three-quarters in 1:29.3 and collared the leader rounding for home before pulling away for a 1-1/2-length victory. Certify rallied for second while PC Free Wheeling settled for third and Cal Miles N Shell (John Calabrese) closed for fourth.
Daniel Gill trains Canthaveme for owner Adam Friedland. The 4-year-old Cantab Hall-Haveoneforme gelding paid $7.52 to win.
Yogi Sheridan found the winner’s circle in the following race with a pillar-to-post effort by 5-2 chalk Bacardi in a 1:59 mile. Sheridan parked early challenger My Secret Ability (Joe Lee) as he pressed out of post 8 for the lead to a :28.4 first quarter and remained alongside the leader to a :58.3 half. My Secret Ability faltered in the backstretch, leaving Bacardi to stroll to three-quarters in 1:28.1 in progress to a 2-length victory chased by pocket-sitter Ima Standup Guy (Joe Faraldo) in second. Warrior One (Andrew Adamczyk) mounted a mild first-over bid around the last turn for third and Mamy Wata (Paul Minore) closed from near last for fourth.
Julius Czermann Jr. trains Bacardi for owner Joseph Loprete. The 8-year-old Southwind Frank-Strawberry Wine gelding paid $7.30 to win.
NAADA action resumes next Thursday (Oct. 8) at Yonkers Raceway with the fifth leg of the club’s fall series. First-race post time is 6:45 p.m. (EDT).
